Protestants In a Catholic Land
Sobota, 7 Sierpien 1993
...there was a hole in the window of the church today,
and one of the hosts, an older (but full of energy) lady,
said the Catholic kids had done it... given that 95% of
the people in Poland are Catholic, she's probably right,
whether it has anything to do with the Catholic vs. Methodist
problem or not...

{ As far as our original project of moving bricks from family
homes to the church property: ] the truck that we wanted to
get, that was not available yesterday, was broken down today.
We're not taking any bets on tomorrow. Apparently there are
a couple of other trucks in town that would do the job, but
they don't want to come out and do a job for the Methodists.
So there's a little example of where Methodist - Catholic
relations stand in 1993...
One good sign, though: apparently, the Premiere of Poland
(Lech Walesa is President, but they also have a Premiere) is
holding a meeting today for all the non-Catholic churches in
Poland to try to work things out; the Methodist bishop of
Poland is attending. Guy [ Langston, our tour leader ] said
that even the fact that she (the Premiere) was willing to have
such a meeting is a good sign that things will smooth out...
