Hi! This is my Tripod home page, 'cause I already filled up two other homepages over on GeoCities, and decided to spread the wealth around... If you want to know who I am, you can go check up on me at my other homepage.

My Tripod pages will probably wind up as a collection of small sites devoted to different projects that are of interest to me. Here's what's started so far - most of these are still "under construction":

An American in Przemysl: three or four years ago, I visited Przemysl (it's pronounced "shemish" - all combinations of two letters in Polish are pronounced "sh" - trust me :-), Poland as part of a Methodist Church Group from Oklahoma. This section includes photos and excerpts from the journal I kept on that trip. (pictures are online, text has a long way to go still)
Charles Gets Real (Audio): I had figured out Real Audio and was going to upload a different recording of one of my old songs to this site each Friday, along with the lyrics and some notes on how the song was written, etc. Due to busy schedule and technical problems at all ends of the pipeline, the "song of the week" is turned off for a while... sorry...
Philips CDR 765 Dual Well CD Recorder: I bought one of these and have been keeping online notes about it, for the benefit of others who might be interested... check it out!
The Rhythm of the Sonnets: I am currently (March 1998) taking an Intro to Shakespeare class, and as a semester project, I'm taking a dozen of Shakespeare's sonnets and setting them to contemporary music styles. I'm still working on getting all the 'text' bits added to the files, but there are now one-minute or so Real Audio samples of all twelve songs.

Here are a few more ideas I have; email me if any of these strike you as "just what the internet needs..."
Praise and Worship Songs: I write a lot of these for our church band, and could probably fill up 2 mb with lyrics, chords, and MIDI files. Of course, any songs that came out really well would be reserved for sending to publishers :-)
Drummies for Dummies: I have yet to find a page on the Internet anywhere dedicated to teaching non-drummers (like me) how to program drum machines so that they sound remotely like something a real drummer would play. Real drummers tend to look on drum machines with disdain, so they aren't telling, and nobody else seems to know. I haven't figured it all out, but I could at least pass along what I've learned...
Band In A Box Tips: I've been using this software package in my recording studio a lot lately; this page will contain some tips and descriptions of the BIAB tricks I've figured out so far, along with a list of the things I'm still trying to figure out...
The Road Rage Page: here in Phoenix, we've come close to turning Road Rage into a sport... this would be a page with some thoughts about what RR is, what causes it, and what could possibly be done about it...
The SpiritHead Papers: or, "why can't church be more like a Jimmy Buffett concert?"
